Renovation Info
We are currently undergoing an exciting renovation project, with a focus on giving our bar and restaurant a fresh new look and concept. As a result, these areas will be temporarily closed for a few weeks. Additionally, some work is taking place at our entrance.
We are doing everything we can to ensure minimal disruption, but please be aware that there may be some noise and construction activity on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any concerns or special requests during your stay, our 24/7 front desk team is here to assist you.
Airport Transfer
Transfers from Keflavik Airport directly to the front of KEX are available, with open tickets for departures scheduled every 40 minutes following each flight arrival.

Service operates in both direction.

During your stay
While you’re staying with us, keep your belongings safe with the lockers right in your room! Just remember, you’ll need a padlock. Don’t have one? No sweat! Swing by the reception, where you can snag one for a small fee of 1.000 ISK.
If your bag is feeling a bit too big for the lockers, no worries! We’ve got you covered with the luggage storage. It’s accessible 24/7, so you can grab your stuff whenever you need it.

Rules
Please respect the signs and notices around the house to ensure that everyone has a pleasant and safe experience at KEX.
Check-out is until 11 am. We kindly ask you to check-out or extend your stay by that time. We have 215 beds to rearrange or clean every day, so this rule is by necessity and a bit on the strict side.
The bar and restaurant are for everyone, including our neighbours but all guest rooms and common areas are off limit to visitors. Safety first.
Ok, this one isn´t really a rule but more a notice: the-hard-at-work housekeepers will be tidying up and cleaning between 9am and 4pm. We take our hats off to their diligence. Their work is worth a bit of respect…
Smoking is forbidden inside the building. KEX´s patio is for our guests to enjoy some fresh air while enjoying their vice.
Food likewise is forbidden in the rooms. There are two well equipped kitchens at your disposal, as well as a restaurant-bar on the main floor.
No name calling. Unless you are calling someone by name.
One guest per bed, one bed per guest. Please refrain from putting your stuff on a bed that is not your own. If you absolutely must have more than one guest per bed, please remember rule #1… KEX guests only 🙂
Take care of your valuables. It‘s your responsibility. Keep your belongings cozy and secure in your locker. It’s like your personal treasure chest. Padlocks are available at the reception for sale.

We’re all about rocking out in our bar area, where the vibes are just right! No party poopers allowed outside this zone though – our walls have ears! Let’s keep the noise down to a chill level after hours. Think of it as synchronized slumber party – respect your fellow roommates’ sleep schedules!
When your time has come to say goodbye, please remove the linen from your bed and place it in the linen hamper in the hallway. If the linen hamper is full, pile it up regardless… We´ll be along soon to empty it.

Smoking Areas
Smoking & vaping inside the building is forbidden. You can smoke at the front of the hostel or in the Patio area. Remember to stay away from windows
And hey, just a quick FYI: puffing on weed is a definite no-no in Iceland.

trash & recycling
Sort your trash like a pro by separating it into designated bins for recycling and general waste. In the common kitchen, you’ll find three trash bins: one for general waste, one for paper/carton, and one for glass and cans. If you need extra trash bags for your room, don’t hesitate to ask our staff. Unsure where to toss something? Just ask our friendly team for guidance. We’re here to help you navigate the recycling maze!
mail & packages
Sending a postcard? Simply drop it off at the reception, and we’ll take care of mailing it for you. Stamps are available for purchase at bookshops and souvenir shops.
You are welcome to send mail/packages to KEX. Just be sure to include your name in the delivery address and let our team know!
Heating
An individual heater is located in each room near the window.
Feeling a bit too toasty or chilly? To adjust the temperature, simply turn the thermostat located at the bottom of the heater.
Keep in mind that the highest number corresponds to a higher temperature.
